During my two-week holiday, I watched this police-criminal drama and discovered that Taiwanese dramas have plenty more to show after they had made another breakthrough.

This drama required plenty of shoot-out techniques which the director, 蔡岳勳 himself found impossible around five years ago. It was true that he had this in mind at that time, but only to give up after knowing that it could not be done with the budget and technologies available at that time. However, his determination and will helped him to make such exciting drama.

Initially, it was a drama designed for F4 after their dramatic start in 流星花園. The director wished to show different aspects of F4 to their fans other than the cool look they presented. Five years later, only 周渝民 (Vic) held his character, 陳在天 as planned and another handsome guy, 趙又廷 (Mark) got his first drama chance to be 吳英雄 after defeating other short-listed potentials chosen from the public.

Vic no longer showed his cool and blue look in the screen; he turned into a play boy in this drama which might be something fresh to his fans. In the drama, he would chase after every single pretty lady with his flowery words. I guess he enjoyed this very much. XD Below is a scene which happened in a pub which involved 陳在天 and 陳琳 which I found it funny.

“”

: 你这个人是不是有毛病啊? 人家随便跟你讲两句. 你就买了五箱()! 我们只有三个人好吗?

陳在: 小姐啊, 你又不是不知道我这个人什么都硬, 就是心肠太柔.

(showing her middle): 见鬼啦! 我看你根本就受不了人家身材好, 随便讲你两句就买一堆. 神经病!

“”

On the other hand, 吳英雄 was a responsible police in the drama who was ready to sacrifice his life to get his job done. He held on to his principles closely until 陳在天 changed his thinking.

Both performed well in the drama although I still thought that Vic’s facial expression was weird when crying. He also had a habit of showing ‘The Rock’ eyes when peering at others. I am okay with it but it might not be necessary in some circumstances. Vic made good use of his experience to lead his partner, Mark and it was praiseworthy. Meanwhile, the newbie, Mark played into his role maturely.

I wish that either they both or Show Luo wins best actor award in 金鐘獎 on 16th October as they have really won my heart with their performance. =)

Other characters in the drama performed well in their respective roles, notably 藍西英 by 张钧甯 (Ning) and 陳琳 by 陳意涵 (Ivy).

Ning is one of the Taiwanese actresses I love after watching her acting in 白色巨塔. Her eye contact has been impressive and has always looked mature and confident. Looking at her acting, I never doubt about her ability to put in extra dimension to the drama she ever takes part. However, what I do not understand about her is that she is a Law Master holder and she takes a big U-turn to become an actress. Bernard also has such talent in acting. Can he be the second Ning? Haha… Maybe he is not young anymore to take such risky U-turn in his life. =]

To me, Ivy is new. This is the first time I saw her in the screen. 陳琳 was damn rude but lovely sometimes. She played the character very well. Perhaps, 陳琳 was indeed like the girl next door whom we can easily find one. Direct, lovely, helpful, friendly…

It was sad that both of the actresses were not in the nomination list for best actresses in 金鐘獎. However, their performances were convincing enough to be nominated at least, in my opinion.

Overall, the story is exciting and simply unpredictable. Well, the director does not wish to put a stop to it. So do I. Therefore, he will continue this story in movie version in order to fulfill fans’ desire as well as his own dream.

It is a drama worthwhile to watch as it is rather very different from typical idolatry drama.

So, what are you waiting for? Watch it!
